How it works

From your pay schedule it lists every payday inside the bonus window, adds up what you send to the new account, and checks the requirement: a total, a number of deposits, or an amount every month. It also finds the smallest per-paycheck amount that would work.

Example

Paid every two weeks, needing $1,000 of direct deposits within 60 days: four paydays usually fall in the window, so sending $250 from each paycheck is enough. Sending $300 meets it on the fourth payday with a little to spare.

Keep in mind

  • It doesn’t decide what the bank counts as a direct deposit.
  • Payroll changes can take a pay cycle or two to start; set them up early.

Questions

What counts as a direct deposit?

Usually an electronic payroll, pension or government benefit payment. Each bank decides, and some exclude transfers you send yourself. Check the offer's definition; this planner only handles the timing.

Can I split my paycheck?

Most payroll systems let you send a fixed amount to one account and the rest to another. The planner shows the smallest fixed amount per paycheck that still meets the bonus requirement.

What if my payday falls on a weekend?

Many employers pay on the Friday before. Choose that option to move weekend paydays; holidays can shift them too, so leave some room at the end of the window.

Does “per month” mean calendar month or statement cycle?

It depends on the bank. The planner uses calendar months; if your bank uses statement cycles, check the dates against your statements.
